 Medicinal Plants of the Southwest: A Visual Odyssey
 A virtual herb walk in our mountains, valleys, bosques and
 deserts

Bert Norgorden was the owner, operator of The Herb Store
 in Albuquerque for 14 years. On a field trip in the Gila
 with Michael Moore in 1988, the lights went on. He started
 wildcrafting herbs and making herbal medicines He has also
 studied with Dr. Tieraona Low Dog, MD,  and Dr. Tim Lowrey,
 curator of the UNM Herbarium. He currently runs The Plant
 Works, a tincture company.  He teaches Botany/Plant ID  and
 medicine making.
 His current passion is photography, esp. medicinal plants

Stalking the Wild Damianita: Wildcrafting at the Crossroads

This workshop will regard the future of wild medicinal
 harvesting, the vital role it plays in herbalism, environmental degradation impacting wildcrafters, the need for current data on wild plant populations, the training recommended for wildcrafters.            One hour with questions.

Dr. Tomas Enos, President and Owner of El Milagro Herbs in Santa Fe, New Mexico is an ethnobotanist, teacher, and natural products formulator.  Dr. Enos has conducted extensive ethnobotanical research in Mexico, Central America, and South America to identify viable phytomedicinals for human health.  His company currently imports plant medicines from the rainforests and marine ecosystems which are subsequently incorporated into El Milagro Herbs’ unique and proprietary product line.

Presentation: Amadea Morningstar 

Amadea has been working with food, herbs,
energy and healing for 35 years, and with Ayurveda for
 twenty-five. She is the founder of the Ayurveda Polarity and
 Yoga Therapy Institute in Santa Fe, NM. She is an old
 friend, student, and colleague of Michael Moore, whom she
 counts as one of the defining and blessing forces in her
 professional life. She’s also an internationally
 recognized author, teacher, and registered polarity educator
 (RPE) and practitioner (RPP) with a BS in nutrition and an
 MA in counseling. Her most recent book is The Ayuvedic Guide
 to Polarity Therapy.

Presentation: Monica Rude
Medicinal Herb Cultivation - The Joy of Growing My Own
A report on the adventure of cultivating medicinal plants over the years, and passing on herbal knowledge in the tradition of Michael Moore
Monica Rude studied with Michael Moore and then proceeded to attempt to grow bulk herbs for the world.  This required someone to do the work, so an apprentice program was begun.  Currently, Monica grows about 100 medicinal and culinary herbs in Gila, New Mexico for teaching and use in the Desert Woman Botanicals product line.  She has gained extensive experience in teaching gardening and herb use and messing with herbs.
 

Presentation: Feather Jones - Paragigms in Healing - Stories From the Elders Stories from the indigenous elders, as well as our own grandparents, can be pearls of wisdom ready to be shared.  We honor our ancestors when we share their stories.  Feather will have many tales to offer but this is an open gathering.
Feather Jones has been a practicing Registered Clinical Herbalist, ethical wildcrafter and medicine maker since 1982 and has a part time practice.  She is Adjunct Professor at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Phoenix.  She consults in herbal product development for the natural products industry and was twice past president of the American Herbalists Guild.  With a background in Mandan tribal teachings, Earth Centered Herbalism infuses her teaching style.
 
Presentation: Shawn Sigstedt - Stalking the Wild Osha
Shawn presents a comprehensive overview of Osha (Ligusticum porteri)
Shawn is a conservation biologist and ethnobotanist and has spent his entire lifetime studying Osha.  He lived with the Navajo and Hopi, studied with Michael Moore, and continued his education at Colorado College and Harvard University.  Today he is Assistant Professor of Biology at the Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where he lives on his ranch and is designing a new innovative technology for how to save medicnial plants and other species from extinction.
 
Presentation: Deborah Brandt - Women's Health Issues From Menarche to Menopause
Deborah Brandt is a Clinical Herbalist and AHG professional member.  She completed Michael Moore's program in 1993 and participates in ongoing herbal education.  She has owned the herb shoppe/clinic "From the Ground Up" in Las Cruces, NM since 1994.  Deborah is also an RN and has served on a subcommittee for Integrative Practice for the NM State Board of Nursing.  She is a writer, teacher and presenter.
 
Presentation: Mitcho Thompson - Redeeming Medicine: Reclaiming Cannibis
History, Materia Medica, Treatments and where we are heading as herbalists who wish to integrate and reintroduce this beautiful plant medicine.
Mitcho holds a Master's Degree in Interdisciplinary Art and Media Technology from the Inter-Arts Center at San Francisco State University.  As an herbalist, he was schooled in California at CSHS, and participated in the Clinical Medical Herbalist Course there.  He teaches the Herbal Medicine and Edibles Components for Oaksterdam University and is the Director of the Peace in Medicine Education Center and Healing Studio in Sebastopol, CA.
